Lovable

Prompt-to-app builder that generates a working React front end, database and hosting from a chat, with no editor involved.

Vibe CodingFree plan; Pro $25/mo, Business $50/mo

Who it's for

Non-developers and founders who want a working landing page, CRUD app or prototype in an afternoon without opening a terminal.

Standout details

  • The free plan gives 5 build credits a day capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits, enough to judge it properly
  • Pro is $25/mo for 100 credits, with rollovers, custom domains and the Lovable badge removed
  • Business is $50/mo for the same 100 credits, so the extra $25 buys SSO and governance and no extra capacity
  • Top-ups cost $15 per 50 credits on Pro and $30 per 50 credits on Business
  • Annual billing gives two months free, and verified students get up to 50% off Pro

What it is

Lovable turns a chat prompt into a deployed web app. You describe what you want, it writes the React front end, wires up a database and auth, and publishes it to a lovable.app subdomain. You can keep iterating in the same conversation, connect a custom domain, and sync the code to GitHub.

Work is metered in credits. In Default Mode the cost moves with task complexity, and the examples in the docs run from 0.50 to 1.70 credits per request. Plan Mode is a flat one credit per message.

Who should use it

Founders who cannot code and need to test an idea this week. Designers who want a real prototype instead of a Figma file. Anyone building an internal tool where CRUD screens are most of the job.

What stands out

The free plan is worth more than a trial usually is. Five build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits, is enough to build something real and find out where the model gets stuck before you have paid anything. The daily cap works in your favour too, because you cannot burn the whole month in one bad afternoon.

The gap between Pro and Business is the thing on that pricing page most likely to catch you out. Both grant 100 credits a month. The extra $25 buys a team workspace, role-based access, internal publish, SSO and a security centre, so it is a governance upgrade with no effect on how much you can build. Capacity comes from top-ups, and those get worse as you move up: $15 per 50 credits on Pro against $30 per 50 on Business. The same credits cost double once you have upgraded.

Credits roll over on the paid plans, which softens a quiet month, and students who verify their status get up to 50% off Pro.

The verdict

Lovable is the fastest way I know to get something clickable in front of people, as long as what you need is layouts, marketing pages and standard database screens. The output looks good without any design work from you.

The failure mode shows up on anything harder. Superblocks, which sells a competing product and so is worth reading with that in mind, describes exactly the pattern the pricing model would predict: non-trivial logic and multi-step flows need heavy hand-holding, and each correction costs credits on top of the attempt that already failed. That is where the money goes. A prototype might cost you five credits and one stubborn bug might cost you fifty.

Look elsewhere if you already write React, because you will spend the session explaining what you could have typed.

Honest verdict

Credits are the unit here, and they decide whether Lovable is cheap or expensive for you. Layouts, landing pages and CRUD screens come out fast and look good, so a prototype costs very little. If the hard part of your product is business logic or a multi-step flow, this is not your tool, because it becomes a debugging loop where the failed attempt and the correction both bill against the same 100 credits. And do not buy Business expecting more room to build, since it costs twice Pro for exactly the same allowance.
