Durable

AI website builder that expanded into a bundled CRM, bookings and marketing suite for small service businesses; the proprietary site can't be exported if you leave.

Vibe CodingFree ($0, 300 total AI credits, 10 CRM contacts, no custom domain); Launch $25/mo ($22/mo billed annually); Grow $49/mo ($41/mo billed annually)

Who it's for

Owners of small, local or service-based businesses (contractors, trainers, repair shops, freelancers) who want one AI tool that builds the site and runs bookings, leads and marketing behind it, instead of stitching those together from separate subscriptions.

Standout details

  • Three tiers built around AI credits and CRM contacts rather than feature walls: Free (300 total credits, 10 contacts, no custom domain), Launch at $25/mo or $22/mo billed annually (1,000 credits/mo, unlimited contacts, bookings, a free domain worth up to $20), and Grow at $49/mo or $41/mo billed annually (5,000 credits/mo, unlimited team members, site translation, a $40 domain credit)
  • Durable started as a pure AI website generator, soft-launching in fall 2022 and producing 26,000 sites in its first month; it has since repositioned as an "AI business builder" that bundles the site with a CRM, booking calendar, AI image studio, invoicing and marketing automation, pitched against paying for seven separate tools
  • Founder James Clift's Vancouver company closed a CAD $18 million (about USD $14 million) Series A led by Spark Capital in November 2023, with total funding over CAD $27 million, per BetaKit's reporting at the time
  • Durable rates 4.8 on Trustpilot across 331 reviews, with 89% five-star; the praise centers on fast, personal support, while recent complaints cluster on weekend support gaps and slow turnaround on complex technical or account problems
  • There is no code or site export. Durable's own cancellation policy says access continues until the end of the billing cycle and refunds are not automatic, but says nothing about taking the site elsewhere, and an independent builder "exit test" found no way to move a Durable site off the platform

What it is

Durable generates a small-business website from a prompt, then wraps it in the tools that business actually runs on day to day: a CRM for leads and customers, an online booking calendar, an AI image studio, invoicing, and marketing automation for blog posts, social content and lead replies. The company moved its primary domain from durable.co to durable.com at some point in 2026; durable.co now redirects there, and the product and company are unchanged.

James Clift founded Durable in Vancouver, having previously built VisualCV and LeadSift. The product soft-launched in fall 2022 as a straightforward AI website generator: 26,000 sites went up in its first month. About a year later Clift said the platform had facilitated six million website builds, though that figure counts sites made by people who never created an account, so it is not a customer count. A CAD $18 million Series A led by Spark Capital closed in November 2023, bringing total funding past CAD $27 million, and the company has since turned the product into what it now calls an “AI business builder.”

Who should use it

A contractor, personal trainer, repair shop or similar local or service business that wants to get online fast and then run leads, bookings and basic marketing from the same place, without hiring a developer or paying for a website tool, a CRM and a scheduling app separately. It fits someone comfortable with Durable’s AI handling most of the design and content decisions rather than building from a blank canvas.

It fits poorly a business built around selling physical products, since Durable’s tools are built for services and bookings rather than a storefront and checkout. Builders who want the kind of design control Framer offers, or who expect to be able to export a finished site and host it elsewhere, should look elsewhere too.

What stands out

Durable’s three-tier pricing scales through AI credits and CRM contact limits instead of locking features behind higher tiers. Free gives 300 total credits, 10 contacts and no custom domain. Launch, at $25/mo or $22/mo billed annually, raises that to 1,000 credits a month, unlimited contacts, bookings synced to a calendar, and a free domain registration worth up to $20. Grow, at $49/mo or $41/mo billed annually, adds unlimited team members, 5,000 monthly credits, automatic site translation and a larger domain credit. The ladder is legible: pay more, get more AI and more room for contacts, not a different product.

The bigger shift is strategic. Durable started as a single-purpose AI website generator and has spent the time since its 2023 Series A turning into a bundle: website, CRM, bookings, an AI image studio, invoicing and marketing automation, positioned explicitly as a replacement for several separate subscriptions rather than just a faster way to get a site live.

Trustpilot gives Durable 4.8 from 331 reviews, 89% of them five-star, and the praise is specific: reviewers repeatedly single out fast, responsive support. The complaints worth reading before signing up are more recent and narrower: slower support on weekends, friction managing an external domain, and delays resolving anything more complex than a routine request.

The bigger catch is portability. Durable’s cancellation policy spells out the mechanics of leaving (access continues to the end of the billing cycle, refunds are not automatic) but says nothing about exporting the site itself, and an independent AI-website-builder exit test found no way to move a Durable site to another host. Cancel and the site is gone, not transferred.

The verdict

For the business Durable is built for, a local service operator who wants a site and the CRM, bookings and marketing tooling behind it in one bill, it is a reasonable trade: the credit-based pricing is transparent, and the AI business builder pitch against seven separate subscriptions holds up against what Launch and Grow actually include. The 4.8 Trustpilot score is real, even if recent reviewers describe slower support once a request gets complicated.

Skip Durable if the site needs to survive a platform switch later. There is no code export, so cancelling means losing the site outright, which is a real cost for anyone who might outgrow an AI-generated template. Skip it too if the business is selling products rather than services, since nothing here replaces a real storefront and checkout.

Honest verdict

Durable fits a small service business that wants one AI tool to replace a stack of separate ones: site, CRM, bookings and marketing in a single monthly bill cheaper than most of those apps alone. The AI credit model is honest about what you're buying, since contacts and credits scale cleanly with plan rather than hiding behind feature gates. Skip it if owning a portable site matters, since there is no code export and cancelling means the site is simply gone, or if the business sells physical products and needs real e-commerce rather than bookings and lead capture. Weigh the 4.8 Trustpilot score against the more recent complaints about slow support on anything beyond a simple request.
